Reaching Families Across South Wales
At Heol Chwarae Rôl - Role Play Lane, we are proud to welcome families from communities across South Wales.
Analysis of postcode data from our Bookwhen booking system identified 4,990 customer records across 28 postcode areas spanning 14 local authority areas. This demonstrates the wide reach of our provision and highlights the demand for affordable, inclusive opportunities for children and families.
Families travel to Role Play Lane from communities across Rhondda Cynon Taf, Cardiff, Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, Caerphilly, Newport and Swansea to access our role play sessions, ALN provision, sensory activities, family events, cookery sessions, music activities and other community programmes.
Our community survey, completed by 287 local families, found that:
• 67.6% reported struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis.
• 89.5% said funded sessions help them attend more regularly.
• Around 300 ALN families engaged with our provision in our most recent evaluation.
These findings reinforce the importance of providing accessible, affordable opportunities that reduce barriers to participation and help families stay connected to their communities.
As a not-for-profit community hub, we remain committed to creating welcoming spaces where children can learn through play, families can build friendships and support networks, and everyone has a part to play.
