Heol Chwarae Rol Ltd trading as Role Play Lane is a Not-for-Profit Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) based in Llantwit Fardre, South Wales. We are a role play centre and community hub supporting children, parents and families through play-based learning that promotes education, confidence and well-being.

We are particularly passionate about supporting families with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and run regular, dedicated sessions designed to be calm, inclusive and supportive.

Our Story

Role Play Lane was founded in 2018 by Jo, now Managing Director. A former primary school teacher, Jo recognised a gap in Wales for a role play centre where children could learn through play in a welcoming environment that supports communication and language, social skills, confidence, problem-solving, and fine and gross motor development.

Alongside teaching, Jo has a strong creative background in musical theatre, songwriting and early years music, running baby and toddler music groups while raising her own children. Opening a role play centre felt like a natural step, combining education, creativity and community.

The centre grew quickly in its first 18 months. However, the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted just how vital safe, supportive community spaces were for families’ mental health and well-being. In response, Role Play Lane transitioned into a not-for-profit organisation in October 2022, becoming Heol Chwarae Rol Ltd TA Role Play Lane.

Today, we are supported by a board of five voluntary directors who are committed to ensuring the centre continues to meet the needs of our community.

What We Do

We use grant funding to keep our sessions affordable and to deliver a wide range of activities that support education, mental health and well-being in a fun, engaging and welcoming environment. Our approach is simple: no judgement, just support, always with families’ best interests at heart.

Our ALN sessions run with reduced numbers and include soft and sensory lighting, gentle music and access to sensory resources. We also work closely with partner organisations to enhance sessions and provide specialist input where needed.

How You Can Support Us

Grant funding is essential but not guaranteed, and applications can take weeks of work. Your support makes a real difference. By attending our non-funded sessions, sharing our posts and spreading the word, you help us continue supporting families in our community.
